About Seminar

I nternational Institute of Currency Technology (IICT) is working in the field of Currency Technology since its inception. The vision of IICT is to create a financial environment which will be free from counterfeit, fake or forged notes. IICT is trying its best to let mass people know about currency issues through Training, Seminar & Publication. Awareness program on banknote for the blind and visually impaired people is one of its many initiatives. To begin with we are organizing seminar with Bangladeshi Banknote and intend to expand the initiative globally.

Around the world, blind people face many problems doing the financial transactions independently. Most of them are not aware about the security features available in the Banknotes that can help them to identify if the note is real or fake. Bangladesh Bank (The Central Bank of Bangladesh) has already included a number of security features such as Blind dots, Intaglio & Tactile features in higher denominations especially for the blind people.

IICT is delighted to get collaboration from Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) and Bangladesh Visually Impaired People’s Society (BVIPS) for this seminar to be held on 14th May, 2016. In this event, more than three hundred visually impaired people will be trained up on currency features.

In August, 2014 International Institute of Currency Technology (IICT) in collaboration with Bangladesh Bank very successfully organized "1st International Public Awareness Seminar on Fake Note Detection & Prevention". As many as 2,460 bankers from all over Bangladesh were trained in that event by the world renowned currency technologists from home & abroad. After successful completion of that event, this year IICT is organizing another similar event only for the blind and visually impaired people so that, they can be self-sufficient in regards to financial transactions.

About IICT

We are a training institute focused to create a financial environment free from fake and forged notes by applying the state of the art technologies along with Cash Automation & Modernization Technology. Threat of counterfeiting and putting fake notes into circulation by the unscrupulous people cannot be overemphasized. Training the money handling personnel and Public awareness are the means to educate people regarding the banknote. Blind or people with normal vision all need the awareness on security features of currency to identify original note.

Our main aims and objectives are dissemination of associated knowledge amongst the concerned parties - banks and financial institutions, enterprises and entities so that they can ensure maximum possible fake note free financial environment and protect currency from forgery and counterfeiting as well.

Today, it is an accepted fact that counterfeiting of notes has become rampant. It is a big threat to the world economy. Investors are generally interested in making investments in projects from which they can earn maximum return, so they have to keep their investments secure. In order to do that their money have to be kept safe and secured. That is why concerned officials are required to be well conversant with the nature, origin, and prevention of counterfeiting.

Techniques of counterfeiting are frequently changing. In order to cope with the situation, millions of dollars are being spent to invent newer preventive measures. Unless a person is aware of the latest developments, he/she is bound to fall prey to the danger. So it is essential to impart proper training to the concerned officials particularly the cash handling persons of the banks and financial institutions to make them capable of identifying a note as genuine or fake instantly. Even the general users need the basic knowledge to identify a fake note.
